The committee

Meet the faces behind the magic

Our wonderful Committee dedicates their hearts and spare time to bringing four amazing shows to life each year. Their love of cats and passion for cat fancy far outweighs the energy, late nights, and time that goes into this celebration of cats.

Meet the team

Adri Swart

Chair

Adri ‘popped in’ to a cat show in 2005 where she saw her first ‘live’ Aby and it was the beginning of a love affair. In 2013 she imported her first Aby queen for breedingShe has been involved with SAASA, BIG/TBCC, and is now the WPCC chair.

Ingrid Van Eck-Gain

Governing Council Rep

Ingrid became involved in the Cat Fancy shortly after moving to Cape Town in 2000. She started stewarding shows before being invited to do the Judges’ Course. She is a SACC All Breeds judge and Chairperson of the Cape Panel of Judges.

Hazel King

Newsletter

Hazel got her first cat (accidental half siamese) when she was 10. However, it was one of her next cats, a Burmese, who started a life-long love affair with the breed. She has been a Burmese breeder, a rescue foster, is a show judge and now the editor of the WPCC’s newsletter.

Christelle Rossouw

MEMBER

Christelle has been a cat lover for as long as she can remember. In 2019 she rescued a Tonkinese and fell in love. This was the first cat she showed. She currently has five Tonkinese and is surrounded – by cats both at work and at home. It’s her creativity and love of crafting that bring the show themes to life.

Anene Engelbrecht

Member

Her love for cats started in 2004 when she was mesmerised by the beauty of Chinchilla Longhairs.  As the years went by, the love for Maine Coons and Burmese evolved.  She has a passion for the different cat breeds, being supportive and eager to learn and present at cat shows.

Emma Gernetzky-Loftus

Design

Emma has been involved with the Cat Fancy since 2018. In that time she has shown both domestic and pedigree cats with her first domestic, Oliver, going to COTY in his first year. She now does the design work for the club and stewards at the shows.

Jackie Taylor

Member

Jackie’s been a certified cat lady since she was two, which is when she was adopted by her first cat. After a lifetime of living with domestic cats of all shapes and sizes, she visited a cat show and it was basically love at first sight Somalis. Fast forward to now: she’s living the dream with three Somalis (and 4 rescues) and is currently on the hunt to import a stud to kickstart her own breeding program. She’s also the newest face on the committee, so she’s still figuring out which buttons not to press and where we hide the good snacks.
